Farah
Claxton
Faith in God and the love of Lee University are two
of the many qualities Farah Claxton possesses. These
two things brought her to where she is today: a
research analyst at Lee.
Farah first came to Lee as a student in the fall of
1999 from Winter Springs, Florida. With a Vocal
Music major she felt it peculiar how she ended up
reporting Lee’s statistics to third party
organizations such as the Department of Education,
U.S. News, and the Princeton Review, as well as
taking internal university requests for ad hoc
report writing. She spent all four years as a
student at Lee working in admissions and academic
affairs and made several great contacts. Those two
jobs gave her the professional skills she now finds
so important in her career.
“It’s interesting how God puts you in places you
never thought you’d be,” Farah stated. “I didn’t
know why they offered me the position here, but I
took it.”
Farah explained how she enjoyed music theory and its
logical structure over the performance aspect, which
explains why she is able to be efficient at breaking
down data and enjoy it at the same time. She is just
grateful for the opportunity to work in a Christian
environment where she doesn’t need to defend her
faith and can make friends with similar values. On
the side, Farah has found use for her vocal talents
as the worship leader at Ooltewah United Methodist
Church. With the new joy she has found working with,
gathering, and managing information, Lee people
don’t have to worry about where to get usable data.
“Data management really is fun,” laughed Farah. “I
love it.”
